MC COMPANS
Researcher
MC COMPANS is a researcher working on the SOC-MISC project. She holds a double undergraduate degree in economics and political science (University of Paris 1, France) and a master’s degree in quantitative sociology and demography (University of Paris Saclay, France) . She continued her academic career with an internship at INED working on gendered socialisation during childhood, then on late fertility in France. Her PhD thesis entitled ‘For Whom the Clock Tolls? Becoming a late father or a late mother facing norms and age‘, which was defended in 2021. She then continued to work on late fertility in Europe and on the use of medically assisted reproduction, as part of a postdoctoral position at the University of Vienna (Austria).
MC joined the SOC-MISC team in July 2024 to work on the quantitative analyses of the project. She uses quantitative data from France (Administrative Health data (SNDS) and the FECOND survey) and the United Kingdom (cohort studies, such as Next Steps and BCS70) to estimate data quality and risk factors of miscarriage, healthcare trajectories due to a miscarriage, and the health consequences of early pregnancy loss.
Her role in the SOC-MISC project is in line with her research interests relating to infertility, reproductive health, and childbearing desires. She also finds participating in a major European research project interesting.
